Scottish Dressage Group AGM

We are delighted to announce that our AGM will take place on Wednesday 3 February 2027 at the Fraser Centre, Tranent, with special guest speaker Richard Johnston-Smith.

Richard is a highly experienced equestrian coach, holding the BHSI qualification, with over 20 years’ experience competing and coaching across the three Olympic disciplines. In 2025, he was appointed British Eventing’s Lead Regional Coach for Scotland.

He has competed in both affiliated eventing and dressage and has extensive experience supporting horse-and-rider partnerships, from grassroots riders through to those competing at national level. Richard has also served as Performance Director at HorseScotland, overseeing the development pathway for Scotland’s elite equestrian athletes.

His coaching combines classical equitation with an evidence-based understanding of equine learning, helping riders develop their skills while getting the best from their horses.

We look forward to welcoming Richard and hearing about his experiences and insights. We hope as many members as possible will join us for what promises to be an interesting and enjoyable evening.

Further details will follow.
